2024 Provincial Alcohol Policy Forum:
The Health Promotion Unit will be hosting PEI's second provincial Alcohol Policy Forum March 20-21, 2024. The cost is free to attend, but registration is required. The final program will be shared late February, but we encourage you to register early and save this in your calendars!
This will be an opportunity to learn, network and share information about alcohol policy best-practices and alcohol-related harms in PEI. If you are thinking about being active, or are already active in efforts to influence healthy alcohol public policy, and you work in community to decrease the harms of heavy drinking, this forum is for you!
2023 Provincial Alcohol Policy Forum:
The Health Promotion Unit in PEI’s Chief Public Health Office, Department of Health and Wellness hosted PEI’s first Alcohol Policy Forum virtually on January 25-26, 2023. The goal of the forum was to provide a learning and networking opportunity on alcohol policy best-practices and alcohol-related harms in PEI. The forum was also timely given the release of Canada’s new Guidance on Alcohol and Health on January 17, 2023, therefore other learning goals included increased awareness of the risks associated with alcohol use; the impacts of costs and alcohol-related harms in our community; and how alcohol policy has a role to play in reducing alcohol-related harms.
Barefoot Facilitation Inc. hosted and facilitated the forum in partnership with the Health Promotion Unit.

Live Well PEI Design Project:
In May and December 2023, the Live Well PEI Design Project hosted community workshops to gather input from community organizations on how we could support community leaders in promoting health in their communities. The collected feedback will be used to help inform future efforts by the Chief Public Health Office to support Island communities in promoting health through addressing the key modifiable risk factors for chronic disease: healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol use.
Stay tuned for future webinar learning opportunities!
