Breathe Well
Tobacco reduction is one of five action areas for health promotion in PEI. Lowering the number of Islanders who smoke is key to lowering the number of people with diseases like cancer and chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and early death in our province. Reducing tobacco use or quitting doesn't just benefit health, it also has many social, environmental, and financial benefits.
To reduce health harms of tobacco, we focus on three pillars of tobacco control: 1) prevention, 2) cessation, and 3) protection. Tobacco reduction can have a positive impact on the health of Islanders at all different levels: people, community, and society.
